American Manufacturing Hall of Fame to Induct Leading CT Companies in April Ceremony

Manufacturing, long a mainstay of Connecticut’s economy, is making a comeback, with renewed attention from policymakers, and a growing number of business enterprises, both home grown and attracted from elsewhere in the world, added jobs in Connecticut.

Now, honoring the state’s more than 350 years of renown as the birthplace of invention, the American Manufacturing Hall of Fame (AMHoF) has announced its first statewide Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The Induction Ceremony, with the theme Boldly Go! Celebrating Those Who Innovate, will take place on April 13, 2023 at The Jackson Laboratory, Farmington, CT.

Connecticut’s legacy is wide-ranging, from leading industries with global reach, to a surprising number of inventions that some are aware of, but many more are not.  They include the helicopter, nuclear submarine, pay phone, sewing machine, boxed ruler, first space suit to walk on the moon and even the Wiffle Ball - all born and manufactured in our state.

The 2023 Hall of Fame Inductees include:

  • General Dynamics Electric Boat,

  • RBC Bearings,

  • ASML,

  • Innovator/Leadership honoree Doug Johnson of Marion Manufacturing

New this year,  AMHoF will celebrate the 42 Connecticut manufacturers instrumental in the Artemis I moonshot program with the special “Boldly Go!” Award.

Established in 2014 at Housatonic Community College, the American Manufacturing Hall of Fame is comprised of a group of passionate individuals and manufacturers. The group believes it is important to appreciate and understand the proud history of American Manufacturing. The Induction Ceremony is both celebration and a reminder of the distinct opportunities that advanced manufacturing brings to American lives as well as support the growing pipeline of skilled manufacturing workers in Connecticut.

“Founded by a passionate group of manufacturing stakeholders in 2014, our Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Celebrates those who Innovate, and Educate our next generation of makers,” said AMHoF Chair Timothy Clark.  “American Manufacturing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony supports scholarship programs of the College of Technology.”

"For more than three centuries, Connecticut has been a leader and an innovator in American manufacturing. I'm proud to support the American Manufacturing Hall of Fame and their mission to honor all that our state has accomplished while inspiring the next generation of inventors, innovators, and makers in Connecticut," said U.S. Senator Chris Murphy.

“Connecticut is home to the best trained, best educated, and best skilled workforce in the world, and advanced manufacturing is a major component of our economic future,” Governor Ned Lamont said. “By supporting the growth of this sector, we are sending a signal to these cutting-edge companies that this is the place to be if they want to grow and flourish.”

U.S. Senator Christopher Murphy is the event’s Honorary Chair with special Presenter U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal. AMHoF also announced that CLA, a professional services firm experienced in delivering integrated outsourcing, audit, tax, and consulting services to help clients succeed professionally and personally, is the Founding Sponsor of the 2023 American Manufacturing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. WTNH News 8 News Anchor Ann Nyberg will be Master of Ceremonies.
