Analysis: Connecticut Ranks #16 Among Nation's Best States

Connecticut has emerged as a strong finisher in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report State Rankings, released this month.   In the highly anticipated overall best states ranking, Connecticut ranked #16, demonstrating its commitment to excellence across a broad spectrum of indicators highlighted by numerous top 10 finishes in various categories.

Connecticut's performance in the analysis of specific categories underscores its dedication to fostering an environment conducive to success and wellbeing for its organizations and citizens, according to regional economic development officials at the MetroHartford Alliance.

The nation’s top 10 states were Utah, Washington, Idaho, Nebraska, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Iowa, Wisconsin, Vermont and Florida. The Best States project by U.S. News & World Report has used thousands of data points to capture how all 50 states serve their residents. The publication’srankings team analyzes statistics tied to more than 70 metrics across eight categories, such as health care, education and natural environment.
