Connecticut's Median Annual Pay at $59,800, Research Shows

The median annual pay level in Connecticut in December 2024 was $59,800, according to new data compiled by ADP Research.  Leading the nation were Washington, D.C. at $100,800, Massachusetts at $75,700 and North Dakota at $69,100, followed by Alaska at $68,000, Colorado at $66,300, Virginia at $64,800 and Washington State at $64,100,

Year-over-year average pay in Connecticut increased by 4.3%, close to New York and Massachusetts, where median change in annual pay grew by 4.5%, and higher than Vermont’s 4.4%, New Hampshire’s 4.1% and New Jersey’s 4%. 

The largest increase in the Northeast was in Maine, at 5%.  Nationally, Wyoming led the way with a 6.5% year-over-year increase, echoed by neighbors Montana at 6.2% and Idaho at 6%.  Alaska experienced a 5.7% increase in median annual pay in 2024.

ADP Pay Insights uses payroll transactions data to provide a view on the wages and salaries of a cohort of almost 10 million employees over a 12-month period. Salary workers make up about 39 percent of the sample; wage workers about 61 percent, according to ADP.

Nationwide in the analysis, year-over-year pay growth for job-stayers slowed to 4.6 percent, the slowest pace of gains since July 2021. Pay growth for job-changers was 7.1 percent, a slight decline in December 2024 from the previous month.
